Didem Karakaş lisans eğitimini Uludağ Üniversitesi Fen-Edebiyat Fakültesi Biyoloji Bölümü’nde 2011 yılında tamamlamıştır. Ardından yine aynı üniversitede Fen Bilimleri Enstitüsü, Moleküler Biyoloji programında 2013 yılında yüksek lisans ve 2017 yılında doktora eğitimini tamamlamıştır. “Pankreatik kanser ve tümör mikroçevresinin ökaryotik elongasyon faktörü 2 kinaz (EF2K) enzim inhibisyonu aracılığıyla hedeflenmesi” başlıklı doktora tezi çalışmalarını TÜBİTAK 2214-A Yurt Dışı Doktora Sırası Araştırma Bursu ile Amerika’da M.D. Anderson Cancer Center’da 1 yıl süreyle kalarak gerçekleştirmiştir. 2017 yılından bu yana İstinye Üniversitesi bünyesinde Dr. Öğretim Üyesi olarak akademik kadroda görev yapmaktadır. Yürütücülüğünü yapmakta olduğu 2 adet TÜBİTAK projesi bulunmaktadır (TÜBİTAK 1001 ve TÜBİTAK 3501)
