Dr. Defne Turker Demir received her BA in Western Languages and Literatures from Bogazici University, her MA in English Language and Literature from Dogus University, and her Ph.D in American Culture and Literature from Istanbul University, Turkey. At present she is an Assistant Professor, teaching at the Department English Language and Literature, with a focus on Post-Colonial and Post-Modern Literatures. She has presented at conferences, and visited universities and institutes as an invited speaker in the US and Europe, giving talks mainly on Cultural History, and Native American Literary Practices. Her research and publications focus on self-writing and ethnicity. She has published book chapters in the US, in France, and in Turkey, and articles in Turkey and France extensively. At present she is editing a book to be published by Peter Lang Publishers’ Diaspora Studies.
