Selen Yanmaz, Dr.
She completed her middle and high school education at Robert College. After graduating from Boğaziçi University Sociology department in 2005, she completed her Master's in Sociology at San Diego State University in the US. At Boston College, where she received her PhD in Sociology, she taught courses such as Introductory Sociology, Social Problems, and Contemporary Social Movements. She was given the Donald J. White Teaching Excellence award by the School of Arts and Sciences at Boston College. She completed her PhD at the beginning of 2018 and joined the faculty of Istinye University during the 2019-2020 academic year. Among her research areas are digital culture, technology, social media, youth and subcultural studies, cultural studies, collective behavior and social movements.
