Sinan Çaya was born in Erzurum. (Being an army-officer’s son and moving around accordingly) he had his primary education in various places. He completed his high school education at Robert College Lycée Division and obtained his B.S. in Chemical Engineering at Boğaziçi University. He worked for government cadres as an engineer and as a teacher of Chemistry. For a time, he worked at an academic position at the Legal Medicine Chair of Çukurova University’s Faculty of Medicine. During his compulsory service he was among the Chemistry Teaching Staff at the Air Force College (as a sub-lieutenant). He attended advanced training sessions and obtained certificates in Special English (Texas) and Technical Instructorship (Illinois). He completed his master degree in Organizational Behavior (Marmara University) and his Ph.D. in Sociology (Hacettepe University). Having gained a second sociology-Ph.D. at METU, he went on and earned the title of associate-professorship, thanks to his local and international publications. Çaya, who had deserved foreign language allowances for years in English (A-level), French (A-level) and German (B-level) languages, is a married scholar. Before joining İstinye University; he thought History of Turkish Revolution at Beykent and Doğuş universities and derivatives of Sociology at Istanbul, Marmara and Boğaziçi universities, respectively.
